The bear on Wheaton Creek Ranch have enjoyed protection from hunting for 30 years. Bears have continued to damage our heirloom apple orchards and we need to reduce the number of bear on the ranch. So we will be happy to have you bear hunting with us. Bear hunts begin on August 16th and the hunt continues until the quota is met. The hunt is 5 days, including excellent lodging, meals, and guide service. We offer transportation across the ranch, but you are welcome to bring and use your own vehicle for the hunt. We have high quality facilities for processing an animal. Including multiple walk-in freezers, multiple pulley hoists, a heated indoor shop and hot water for cleaning. See prices and dates at the bottom of the page.
Elk/Bear Combo Hunt
The ranch is offering special pricing to our elk hunters if they choose to add a bear to their hunt. Pay only an extra $1000 extra for the opportunity to hunt a bear. Other combination hunts and activities such as fly-fishing or horseback riding can be arranged upon request.
The only way you can be guaranteed of a tag and the best hunting experience in New Mexico is with a private landowner tag on a large private ranch. Our facilities are world class and reside on a working ranch. When you choose WCR for your private bear hunting experience, you will be staying in the heart of prime elk habitat and with 15,000 acres of private land to hunt, we have the flexibility to style your hunt to fit your particular needs and desires.
And best of all, the minute you arrive you will be in the middle of prime country and stay there for your entire hunt. You won’t be shuttled down some highway to hunt someone else’s land. You will be on our ranch, hunting our land.
Our guides are highly skilled, professional, and intimately familiar with the property. They are among the most knowledgeable, helpful, and experienced guides available anywhere. Unlike many other New Mexico outfitters, we provide the hunt on a ranch in which we live and work on all year round.
